Atlanta Conference Brings Attention to Celiac Disease and Food Allergies

This Saturday, February 1st, Enjoy Life Foods will co-sponsor the Atlanta Women’s Medical Alliance, a conference that addresses the myths of Celiac Disease and Food Allergies. Celiac Disease is thought to effect as many 1 in 150 Americans (Source: University of Maryland School of Medicine). Celiac Disease is an autoimmune condition triggered by the intake of gluten, a protein found in many common grains such as wheat, rye, barley, and products made from oats. While Celiac disease represents a severe food intolerance, up to 45% of the American population is effected, to lesser degree, by food allergies and intolerances (Source: York Nutritional Laboratories). Many experts believe food intolerances are on the rise, and are usually connected to foods that constitute a large part of American diets.

Shelley Case, BSc, RD, and author of Gluten-Free Diet: A comprehensive Resource Guide, will speak at the conference, addressing how to manage food intolerances and allergies. A complete schedule of speakers and additional information is attached.

One of the event’s sponsor’s, Enjoy Life Foods, is a company committed to creating nutritional alternatives for people with food allergies and intolerances, and those concerned about incorporating healthy foods into their diet. Enjoy Life Foods offers a line of super nutritious foods that are free of common allergens.
